Thursday

today is the last day of my working week, because tomorrow is my day off, (Being a part-timer and all that!!) I'm feeling pretty tired today because I had a parent's evening on Tuesday as well as a full day teaching, duty etc. I felt like I hadn't stopped and my feet were killing by the time I got home. I was lucky cos hubby had made me tea, but the kids were still up and not bathed by the time I got back and then it was too late for them to have a bath.......nice. I had a governor in my lesson first thing today and most of the children were angels, but some of the silly boys couldn't help themselves and had to dismantle one of the models in the classroom whilst they were supposed to be working. The governor commented on the amount of grafitti in the textbooks.............. what can I say? the books are ancient and we can't afford new ones at the moment. I think that the next lot of kids I have in detention will have to be armed with a bottle of tip-ex!!

Hi to anyone out there, I have never used a Blog before, but I'd like to do this to put my own thoughts down and to tell people what it's really like to be a teacher in a large secondary school which is hugely underfunded.



I have had quite a nice morning so far, I have taught year 7 who were keen to listen and participate in the lesson....although there are signs that some of the pupils could become disruptive in the future.



I have taught Year 9 who were 'entertaining', but it worried me the misconceptions that some of them had considering that they weren't a bottom set...... one of them thought that the food and water went into separate compartments in your body so that the solid came out of your anus and the water came out in the urine!!



Year 11 were mostly good, however some of the boys just kept on talking about rubbish, they even ran a bet to see if one of the boys was going to have sex with his girlfriend this weekend..... and these are not nasty children.



I was furious yesterday because some kids left a lot of mess outside of my classroom after dinner including smearing ketchup up my door. I ranted at my form who denied all knowledge of any of this happening.......... Funny how none of them are there at the moment!!!
